Six months ago Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, dumping record amounts of rain and causing an estimated $125 billion in damage. Thousands of homes and businesses in the greater Houston area flooded as rivers, bayous and reservoirs spilled over their banks.

As floodwaters were receding, the Friedkin Disaster Relief Fund was established to help The Friedkin Group associates, associates of Toyota dealers and the overall community recover. More than $1.5 million was raised, including $250,000 from Toyota Motor North America. Donations to the fund poured in from across the country, with support coming from 307 donors and 53 Toyota dealerships.

Ultimately the Friedkin Disaster Relief Fund was distributed to 363 individuals who were impacted by the storm, including associates from The Friedkin Group and 23 dealerships across the Gulf Coast region.

The Friedkin Group is also supporting longer-term recovery efforts through a $500,000 donation to the United Way of Greater Houston and volunteer efforts with SBP, a nonprofit that was formed in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and aims to shrink the time between disaster and recovery.
