Project Recover

Established in 2012 and formalized in 2016, Project Recover enlists cutting-edge technology and in-depth historical research to identify the final underwater resting places of Americans missing in action since World War II. Its mission is to provide recognition and closure to the families of fallen U.S. service members.

Combining resources and expertise of researchers at the University of Delaware’s College of Earth, Ocean and Environment, The BentProp Project, and Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego, Project Recover has transformed and revolutionized the underwater search and recovery process, locating and documenting over a dozen U.S. aircraft.
